***!DISCLAIMER!: I do not own, nor CLAIM ownership of, the character Flonne. She is one of the many wonderful characters brought to you in Atlus's Disgaea videogames, as well as the anime. That being said, please do not sue me. The only thing I have to my name, as far as I know, is lint. Do you really want lint?
Character Profile
Name: Flonne
Series: Disgaea: Hour of Darkness, Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories, Makai Senki Disgaea
Version: Makai Senki Disgaea (the videogame)
Age: 1,509 +
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Appearance: Long, silky strands of gold find their end at her waist whilst a few of the shorter waves curve about her face, directing themselves where they will. A pair of fleshy points decorated by dangling red hearts peek out from the golden curves and point in opposite directions. A large red bow sticks up from atop her head, almost like rabbit ears. Two large, red pools serve as a mirror into her soul, conveying every emotion felt without shame. Two red bat-like wings are visible through her long, golden strands; a small white bow is tied at the tip of her red, heart-shaped tail.
While Flonne may be a fallen angel, but she is nonetheless the most adorable person one could meet. Her stature is small, befitting her physical age. She appears to be around fifteen or so. She wears what might appear to most as a red one-piece with a roomy white 'coat' that halts an inch or so past the beginning of the thigh. Her slender shoulders are left exposed, as the sleeves are held up by red ties just below their beginnings. A large red bow hangs from her neck and supports the high collar of her white coat, leaving it unchecked. Red high heels complete her outfit...along with a bright smile.
Personality: Flonne is an absolute angel despite her 'fallen' status. She is a beacon of light in any darkness, a more than kind and compassionate individual with a very strong, pure heart that reveals itself on a regular basis through her polite nature and the powerful empathy she possesses towards all beings. She is an advocate of the heart, for her belief in the power and concept of love is absolute. It is for this reason that she was given the title 'Love Freak' by the Netherworld's current overlord.
Her picture is the first to appear by the entry for 'innocent' in the dictionary, and rightfully so. It is difficult for her to understand such commonplace beliefs as "money makes the world go 'round", for love and friendship are clearly more important in her mind. The girl is thusly naive to some extent; however, she is not quite as sheltered as she was when she first arrived in the Netherworld. Still, she desires to believe in the good within people and the heart. The fallen angel is quite the optimist.
While Flonne might just be the self-appointed advocate of all things good, she is also something of a ditz; however, she is a friendly ditz nonetheless. She is a very outgoing, spirited person. She is also extremely loyal and devoted to the people she cares for, even if she doesn't always agree with or understand them. She is also quite mature. The fallen angel also isn't perfect. She can make mistakes like anybody else.
Flonne would not hurt a fly...er, most of the time. Well, actually...she dislikes hurting people and unnecessary violence; however, she will fight...when she has to (which is usually when her allies are in mortal danger or she is alone)...or when she...wants to. In truth, she would much rather support a party or use diplomacy to solve matters. Of course, she has been around Laharl and Etna for a while...so, really, it's hard to say if she wouldn't hurt a fly or not. At any rate, if it is a harmless fight, such as a spar, game, or sport, she is more than happy to participate.
When a serious situation arises or the face of adversity rears its head, Flonne becomes a 'different' person (whether she's pretending or not). This especially applies when her beliefs are challenged or a situation arises when her will is tested. She may be small, but she is a fearsome adversary. Really. (Then again, considering who her friends are...such situations don't arise very often.)
Weaponry: Kerykeion - a sceptor that enhances magical power - it is composed of a thin rod with a reddish pinkish or at its end that sits at the center of a yellow down-faced crescent formation. Flonne's tail could also be used as a weapon.
Abilities: Flonne excels in magic. She is an all around mage of sorts; however, she is based in healing and support magic, such as Espoir (cures ailments) or Shield (equivalent to barrier). Where it concerns black magic, she is capable of using fire, but her wind and ice spells are very basic. Before these, however, are her own, unique moves.
"Power of Love" is a multi-target healing spell that restores health. "Holy Arrow" is a non-elemental attack that tends to do efficient damage. "Divine Ray", however, is very much an angelic attack. After she begins to float above the ground, two larger versions of her red bat wings - their shadows appearing angelic - shield her face from the sky. If there are clouds in the sky, they part and many beams of light descend from the heavens, creating a massive explosion. [This is a modified form of Divine Ray that I curbed, as I can find no information regarding changes in Flonne's abilities after her charge. Gomen ne.]
Weaknesses: For all her strengths, Flonne also possesses a number of weaknesses...many of which relate to her strengths. She is incredibly innocent and terribly naive at times. One might say she has lived a number of sheltered lives due to her age. She could be taken advantage of very easily because, quite frankly, she's too nice and her desire to believe in the good within people makes her an excellent target. Her optimism is clearly a weakness. As if that wasn't enough, she is also too polite and cares far too much for people in general.
Flonne, like the majority of magic-types, does not have the greatest physical stamina. In fact, she's quite similar to a flower; she is beautiful, but small and very fragile. She also has a non-too surprising love of sweets and cute things (moogles, shadow heartless, and small animals would fall into this category).
Lastly, like any strong bond, her devotion to the people she loves could be used against her, especially where it concerns Laharl, the overlord of the Netherworld, and Etna, another of his vassals. She is notably quite fond of Laharl...despite his incredibly long list of shortcomings and his dire need of anger management and emotional receptibility. As one can imagine, she is protective of him in some ways that she might not even know.
History: Flonne was once an Angel Trainee from the land of Celestia, the dwelling place of the Angels. One day, Seraph Lamington sent her on a mission to the Netherworld to asassinate Overlord King Krichevskoy. When she arrived in the Netherworld, she was surprised to find that a black pretzel had asassinated King Krichevskoy two years earlier. The young trainee also met the late king's son, Laharl, and his vassal, Etna (mainly due to a none too discreet escape from the castle).
It was then that the Angel Trainee devised a mission of her own. She would remain in the Netherworld with Laharl to find out if demons possessed the capability to love.
After aiding Laharl in his efforts to claim the title of Overlord, she assisted him further when the defenders of Earth - namely Captain Gordon and his companions - came to the Netherworld to defeat the overlord after being fed false information by the angel Vulcanus. After realizing and neutralizing the threat to the Netherworld that was engineered by the tag-team of Vulcanus and the general of Earth, Flonne takes the group to Celestia to speak with the Seraph in hopes of obtaining answers to numerous questions.
Once in Celestia, Flonne and the others fight to reach the Seraph. Vulcanus's plot to take over the universe is exposed; he is punished by the Seraph. Flonne is then punished by the Seraph for fighting against fellow angels; she is turned into a flower. Laharl, enraged, attacks the Seraph, but spares his life for the simple reason that killing him wouldn't bring her back. Laharl nearly sacrifices himself to bring Flonne back, but Veyers (also known as Mid-boss) arrives and reveals the plot he and the Seraph underminded.
Flonne was actually sent to meet Laharl in order to begin the tedious work of bridging the gap formed between the angels and the demons. The flower (that is Flonne) was then transformed, but not into an angel. Flonne's punishment was to be transformed into a fallen angel. The two are told that they are the knot that will bind Celestia and the Netherworld together. Neither understand, but one day they will.
After these events, Flonne returns to the Netherworld with Laharl and Etna. She is still very much herself, despite the anatomical and color changes.
